Walter S. Krzycki, Jr., age 79, of Sturgis, passed away late Saturday evening April 10, 2021 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born February 28, 1942 in Detroit, son of the late Walter S. and Victoria (Saszyski) Krzycki.
Wally resided in Sturgis for the past 46 years. On October 28, 1966 he married Marge Paszkiewicz in Detroit.
Wally retired from the Michigan State Police following 25 years of dedicated service.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Pigeon.
Wally was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp earning the rank of Lane Corporal.
For over 20 years he served as Sturgis Township Treasurer. He also served on the School Board of Holy Angels Catholic School, was a Rocket Football coach and he enjoyed playing softball and golf and bowling.
He is survived by his wife Marge; one son: David (Alecia) Krzycki stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia with the U.S. Army; one daughter: Lisa (Kris) Bagchi of Montreal, Canada; four grandchildren: Jordan Marie, Jackson Bryce, Arlo and Farrah; two sisters: Mary Ann (Tom) Klakulak of Washington, Michigan and June Behme of Commerce Township; two brothers: Kenneth (Cheryl) Krzycki of Emmett and Donald (Laurie) Krzycki of Bryan, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Delphine Johnston.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Walter S. Krzycki, Jr. will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 18th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Pigeon. The Rev. Father Richard Altine will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
