Barb Stump, 85

Barbara L. Stump, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday evening April 29, 2021 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born October 25, 1935 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Howard and Freda (Day) Adams.
Barb was a lifelong Sturgis resident and graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1953.
On July 10, 1954 she married Robert E. Stump at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis. He preceded her in death November 24, 2002.
She had been employed by Sturgis Hospital and as an aid at St. John’s Lutheran School in Sturgis and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, GG and homemaker.
Barb was a longtime active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Circle and volunteered her time in many other capacities. She and Bob enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and loved time with her family.
She is survived by five daughters: Patricia (Matt) Franks, Debra (Richard) Singleton, Sue (Dennis) Yoder, Cathy (Greg) Shank and Lisa (Richard “Flip”) Samuels all of Sturgis; one son: Robert G. (Tammy) Stump of Sturgis; 13 grandchildren; two bonus grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two additional great grandchildren expected in September; One sister: Linda (Dean) Cline of Burr Oak, sister-in-law: Mary Adams of Coloma and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter: Karen Sue Stump; grandson: Christian Stump and one brother: Charles Adams.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara L. Stump will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. The Rev. Darin Warnacke will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
