Centreville High School gym to get new roof

Centreville Board of Education members agreed this week to follow through on the installation of a new roof over Centreville High School’s gymnasium and an adjacent hallway.

The board agreed to hire Morrow Roofing of Mason for $230,000 to complete the task.

Morrow was the high bidder, as Lyster Exteriors came in around $210,000 and Diversified Services at about $165,000. But board members agreed to go with Morrow, as recommended by Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer, maintenance director Herb Pearrow, and a building and site committee.

Board member T.J. Reed said Morrow included in its bid removal of one of two layers that currently comprise the roof, the other bids did not.

In other action, board members accepted the resignation of physical education/health teacher Trevor Haas and retirement of junior high science teacher Mary Grintals.
