Constantine man arrested after high-speed pursuit

A Constantine man was arrested this week after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit that originated in Constantine Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies early Sunday morning attempted to stop a vehicle for a speeding violation in the 14000 block of North River Road.

The pursuit covered several miles, Lillywhite said, and reached high speeds as it continued into Mottville Township and eventually Cass County.

Cass County sheriff’s deputies successfully deployed tire-puncturing sticks but not before the driver attempted to hit patrol vehicles with his vehicle.

The suspect’s car came to rest in a field in Cass County and the driver fled on foot. The 32-year-old man was found wet and barefoot.

He was charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and using a vehicle to assault an officer.
