County commission honors Centreville football team

Another accolade was bestowed upon Centreville High School’s state-championship varsity football team.

St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners last week passed a resolution honoring the 2020-21 squad, which claimed Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 8 title in January at Ford Field in Detroit.

Coach Jerry Schultz represented the team as commissioner Ken Malone read the proclamation honoring the undefeated squad.

Commissioner Jared Hoffmaster said despite his allegiance to Three Rivers, the entire county is proud of what one of its own high schools accomplished.

Schultz offered a sincere thank you to the five-member board and said the acknowledgment never grows old.
