County commission plans interviews for COA advisory board

St. Joseph County commissioners plan to interview candidates interested in serving on the advisory board that oversees Commission on Aging.

During the county commission’s executive committee meeting Wednesday, county administrator Teresa Doehring said five of the six have expressed interest in returning for another term. She has not heard from the sixth person.

Terms of six current board members expire at the end of June and commissioners discussed whether to renew their appointments or interview the group in addition to anyone from the public interested in serving.

Commissioner Kathy Pangle said it’s only fair to open up the process instead of merely re-appointing. Commissioner Dan Czajkowski agreed, saying past protocol calls with other panels has been to interview.

Pangle and commissioner Jared Hoffmaster will comprise the interview committee, along with COA director Pam Riley.
