Mendon NHS members cleanup downtown

National Honors Society members at Mendon High School last week continued a tradition that took a break last year.

High school principal Robert Kretschman said the district has had a long-standing tradition in the annual community cleanup.

Kretschman said the district had 21 kids downtown and about a dozen who worked around the district’s schools.

Kretschman, who is finishing his third year as MHS principal, reiterated all who participated are National Honor Society members.

The tasks varied from those who worked downtown raking up old mulch, pulling weeds and putting new mulch down. Meanwhile, another group washed windows outside downtown storefronts.

Mendon’s junior/senior awards took place last week. Its graduation is Thursday.
