Police chase ends in arrest

St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department deputies were involved in a pursuit last weekend that ended in Mottville Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said the incident started Saturday evening when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near the intersection of Dickinson Road and Burke Road.

The suspect’s vehicle traveled a number of miles before the pursuit ended in the 69000 block of Blue School Road. The 40-year-old suspect, whose community of residence was not stated in a department media release, fled on foot.

Deputies apprehended the subject after a short foot pursuit. He was wanted on several outstanding warrants and was charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and possession of methamphetamine.
