Sharon Lynn Baker, age 83, of Sturgis, passed away early Thursday morning, May 6, 2021 at her home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Sharon’s beautiful smile and contagious laugh was a daily reflection of how much she loved life, family, friends… and a tall glass of iced wine. In her glory days she would serenade friends at Klinger Lake Country Club and dance into the night with the love of her life, Denny Baker. For Sharon the music never stopped, even in her 80’s she was dancing in Zumba class with the ladies at the FIT ZONE in Sturgis, where she was a lifelong resident and part of the 1955 Sturgis High School graduating class.
Sharon was born July 29, 1937 in Sturgis. She was the daughter of the late Roger and Kathlene Malone. On August 9, 1958 she married Dennis Owen Baker at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. He preceded her in death January 15, 2006.
Sharon had been employed by the Citizens State Bank in Sturgis from 1955-1959 and she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter: Juliane (John) Baker Parson; daughter-in-law: Kimberly Baker; granddaughters: Amanda (Brett) Scheske, Hayley (Alex) Baker, Jennifer Kirtley and Brittany (Joey) Duarte; grandsons: Spencer (Jessica) Kirtley and Bryan (Wendy) Parson; great grandsons: Hudson Garcia, Owen Scheske, Rohn Duarte and great granddaughter: Gabriella Mosby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons: Mitchell Baker and Bradley Baker.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate and honor the life of Sharon Lynn Baker will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, May 22nd at the Sturges-Young Auditorium Center for the Arts, 201 N. Nottawa St. in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
Sharon’s wishes were in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015 or Shrine Hospital 233 Fulton Suite 102, Grand Rapids, MI, 49503.
