Sharon Lou Griffin-Connelly, age 70, of Constantine, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. She is forever in our hearts and her legacy of love will live forever in all of us.
Sharon was born on October 15, 1950 in Detroit, the first born to Gerald and Pamela (Anderson) Griffin. She graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1968 and continued to pursue her love for education well into her 50s as she attended college courses at Glen Oaks Community College.
In 1970, she married David Connelly in Detroit; they were later divorced. Dave and Sharon had six children together. She worked for many years as a pre-school teacher at On Track Learning Center and also as a librarian at the Constantine Public Library. Sharon absolutely loved spending time with all of her children and grandchildren. Some of her favorite hobbies included crocheting, quilting, sewing, drawing, painting, and reading. Sharon enjoyed the simple things in life like going on walks and taking in the natural scenery. She also found the beauty in visiting covered bridges.
Surviving Sharon are her children Amie Connelly (Thomas Robinson) of Belleview, FL, Diana (Andy) Hislop of Constantine, Joseph Connelly of Tulsa, OK, Albert (Nichole) Connelly of Cameron, NC, and Caitlin Connelly of Ligonier, IN; grandchildren Corey, Pamela, Emily (Matthew), Cassidy, Thomas, Sandra, David, Justin, Nicholas, Audrey, and Natilee; great grandchildren Konner, Kyler, Vaida, Matthew, Paisley, Alyson, Lilliana, and Haiden; and siblings Susan (Roger) Harrison of Garden City and Ronald Griffin of Westland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Lori Ann Connelly, and brothers Timothy Griffin and Jerald Griffin, and sister Christine Smith.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at The Harvey House Monday, May 24th from 4 to 8PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon’s memory to The Wounded Warrior Project at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
