Carl Hull, 74

Carl G. Hull, Jr., age 74, of Centreville, passed away at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.  Carl was born in Pennsylvania on September 28, 1946, a son of Carl and Helene (Zygar) Hull, Sr.  He attended schools in Elkhart, later receiving his GED from Three Rivers Public Schools.  On June 23, 1965, he married Ellen Clark in Elkhart.

Carl studied Tool and Die Making at Glen Oaks Community College, and was employed by XL Machine Company in Three Rivers as a Tool and Die Maker for over 30 years.  Carl loved spending his time volunteering as Santa Claus around the area for many, many years.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling, and collecting wolf statues and Santa Claus figurines.  Carl, and his wife Ellen, were members of New Beginnings Church in Sturgis.

Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ellen Hull of Centreville; daughter Kim (Larry) Edwards of Ann Arbor; daughter Kathy Hull (Ray Goudy) of Centreville; grandchildren Andrew Willis, Alyssa Hull, and Amanda (Steve) Ridener; great grandchildren Chloe Ann Fry, Elliott Morrison, Hazel Grace Ridener, and Aleena Irene Willis; sister Madeline Sain of Florida, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Derek Royce Hull, and brother James Russell Hull.

A religious graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 11:00 AM at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville with Pastor Randy Evans officiating.  Memorial contributions can be given in Carl’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html).

  1. I am so sorry to hear of Carl’s passing. My prayers are with you Ellen and your family. He will be missed by many. He was the first to lend a hand to people who needed and ive seen first hand how he loves his grandchildren and his greatgrands. All of you are in my prayers Ellen, Alyssa, and Chloe Ann as well as all that ive never met. I liked Carl and respected him, he was a very good and kind man.
