Cathy Sue Miller, age 67, of Sturgis, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2021 at her home. Cathy was born in Sturgis on May 13, 1954, a daughter of F. Keith and Doris (Knauss) Borgert. She attended Nottawa and Centreville Public Schools, graduating in 1972. After high school, Cathy received her Associate’s Degree from Glen Oaks Community College and went on to study at Kellogg’s Community College where she obtained a Certificate of Dietetics.
On September 21, 1984, she married Alexander “Sandy” Miller in Centreville. Cathy worked in the dietary department at Fairview Nursing Home for 20 years, then Sturgis Hospital for 2 years, and finally for Thurston Woods Nursing Home for 25 years, before retiring in 2019.
Cathy was a member of the Nottawa United Methodist Church, of which her husband serves as Pastor. She was a dedicated “Pastor’s Wife” and enjoyed serving at many church fundraisers and events. She loved to collect cookbooks, go to garage sales and bazaars, and play dominoes and cards. She was a lifelong 4H Member and Leader, and most enjoyed the skills of gift wrapping, cake decorating, and cooking.
Cathy is survived by her husband Sandy Miller, mother Doris Borgert, sisters Cindy Borgert and Sue (Thomas) Roach, brother Keith L. Borgert all of Sturgis, brother-in-law Scott Macfarlane of Schoolcraft, several nieces and nephews, close friend Jennifer Marshall, and siblings-in-law Ernest Miller of Elkhart, Tom (Gail) Miller of Centreville, and Bev Miller of Sturgis.
She was preceded in death by her father F. Keith Borgert, sister Sheila Macfarlane, and sister-in-law Danyelle Borgert.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday, June 29 from 4 to 8 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. A religious service will be held on Wednesday, June 30 at 11 AM at Centreville United Methodist Church with Pastor Maria Rutland officiating. A private interment will occur at a later time in Nottawa Cemetery.
