Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a larceny from a motor vehicle that occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday in Nottawa Township.
The victim was mowing a field adjacent to Nottawa Road, near Wasepi Road.
Authorities said the victim had parked her car at the edge of the field while her 13- and 11-year-old sons remained inside the vehicle.
The suspect stopped his vehicle on Nottawa Road and approached the children inside the vehicle. Authorities said the man scared the children, who then fled the vehicle to alert their mother. The suspect then stole the victim’s purse from the vehicle.
He was described as a white male between 30 and 40 years of age, wearing a black beret-style hat. The suspect also had tattoos on his arms, neck and face. He was driving a small, white passenger car with rust along the bottom. It was last seen fleeing south on Nottawa Road.
