Sturgis woman seriously injured in crash

A Sturgis woman was airlifted from the scene of a two-vehicle collision earlier this week in Florence Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies were called around 3 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Lutz and Dickinson roads.

Investigators said a Ford pickup driven southbound on Lutz Rd by the 58-year-old Sturgis woman was struck by a Chevrolet SUV driven west on Dickinson Road by a 27-year-old Three Rivers man.

Authorities said the SUV failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and struck the Ford.

The driver of the pickup was transported by West Michigan Air Care for evaluation of serious injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured and was cited for disobeying a stop sign, deputies said.
