Two suspects arrested in Branch County

Two people were arrested on drug-related offenses as well as suspected stolen property.

State police troopers stopped a vehicle pulling a trailer Tuesday on U.S. 12 near Fiske Road after noticing an equipment violation.

Troopers discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen from Steuben County, Indiana.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Union City, and the passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Coldwater, were detained during the investigation.

Troopers discovered suspected methamphetamines inside the vehicle. Along with the alleged drugs, troopers found many keys for other vehicles and titles for other vehicles not in the names of the driver or passenger.

Troopers also discovered numerous items suspected to also be stolen: power and hand tools, scrap metal, Suzuki motorcycle parts, vehicle speakers and amplifier, and a pair of night-vision goggles.

The driver was arrested and lodged in the Branch County jail. The passenger was later released at the scene.
