Update regarding sewage pipeline break

Constantine Village Manager Mark Honeysett provided an update on a recent force-main break of a sewage pipeline from the village to the waste treatment plant in Three Rivers.

Addressing village council members during their meeting Monday, Honeysett said he was made aware of the incident June 13 from Doug Humbert, engineer at the Three Rivers plant. Humbert had reported the break in the 15000 block of Gleason Road.

Honeysett said the repair made to remedy the situation was a “Band-Aid” and the village is working with Fleis & VandenBrink Engineering to determine whether the pipeline has any other potential breaches near the spot.

He added the village needs to determine exactly how much pipeline needs to be replaced. It then will need to acquire more replacement pipe as necessary and schedule a date to make repairs.
