Bruce Leigh Heywood , age 71, of Tampa, Florida had his heavenly homecoming on July 12, 2021 after a brief illness. Bruce was born in Three Rivers on January 11, 1950. He graduated from Three Rivers High School and Western Michigan University. Bruce was an accountant by trade in various manufacturing facilities. He was a member of Bay Hope Church and worked on the finance committees, served as an usher and volunteered on several serve opportunities such as Operation Christmas Child, Mort Elementary School and Meals on Wheels. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in construction for 16 years and served on several committees as well. Bruce was married to Sherry for 37 years and they could be found out at Busch Gardens on a regular basis riding roller coasters and watching the animals. He loved to travel and was able to check off many places on his bucket list. He was an avid Gator fan but we won’t hold that against him!
He was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Alice Heywood, brother in law Jack Smith, father in law Benny Register and “fur babies” Tuffy, Sparky and Maggie.
He is survived by his wife Sherry, brother Barry Heywood (Joann) of Three Rivers, sister Marsha Smith of Canton, Michigan, mother in law Dot Register of Graceville, Florida, 3 nieces and 11 great nieces and nephews and “fur baby” Lolo.
A Celebration of Life in loving memory of Bruce was held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Bay Hope Church, 17030 Lakeshore Rd., Lutz, FL 33558. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bay Hope Church.
