Hit-and-run injures three people

Three people were injured in a hit-and-run collision last week in Cass County’s Pokagon Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly before 2:30 a.m. Friday to M-51 at Edwards Street.

Behnke said a vehicle driven by Marie Dillon, 70, of Shipshewana, was north on M-51 when it was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at Edwards Road.

Dillon’s passengers were Stephen Jack, 54, of Shipshewana, and Trena Mireles, 49, of Hartford. The three were taken to Borgess Lee Hospital.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene but was later located, unoccupied, at a residence in the 31000 block of Edwards Street. Deputies said they are continuing to investigate the incident and charges against the driver of the fleeing vehicle are likely.
