Marjorie R. Shank, age 89, of Sturgis, left the loving arms of her family and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Monday morning, July 26, 2021 at her home on Minnewaukan Lake in Sturgis.
She was born March 5, 1932 in Pentwater, Michigan daughter of the late Ernest and Harriette (Griffis) Luttrull.
Marjorie attended Muskegon area schools and graduated from Muskegon High School with the class of 1950.
On December 6, 1952 she married Fred E. Shank at the Marquette Chapel in Muskegon.
She resided in the Muskegon area and was employed by Bell Telephone until moving to Sturgis in 1965. After moving to Sturgis she accepted a position with the Brown Paper Company and later joined AAA of Michigan where she worked several years until her retirement.
Marge was an avid bowler her entire life. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing poker and Bingo all over the Michiana area. She always had a love of fishing and enjoyed it even more after moving to Minnewaukan Lake.
She was a past member of Women of the Moose Sturgis Chapter #613, Eagles Lodge #1314, Lady Elks, Pythian Sisters Pocahontas Temple #121 and Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion Auxiliary. Marge had hobbies and interests but what she truly loved was time surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marge is survived by her daughter: Loretta (Len) Roe, Jr. of Constantine; sons: Fred (Robyn) Shank, Jr. of Sturgis, Jeff (Tina) Shank of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Greg (Cathy) Shank of Sturgis; eight grandchildren: Nick (Tracy) Shank, Courtney Shank, Cameron Shank, Eric Shank all of Sturgis, Amanda Shank of Battle Creek, Brian (Leslie) Shank, Cory (Mackenzie) Shank and Natalie (Tyler) Nickols all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 17 great grandchildren: Cody, Andrea, Erika, Kasey, Breylyn, Abel, Lynae, Ava, Riley, Ethan, Will, Jane, Levi, Malaki, Serenity, Jayden and Paisley; one great great granddaughter: Paisley Leann; one brother: Gerald Luttrull of Muskegon; one sister: Audrey Luttrull of Muskegon; brothers-in-law: Pat and Mike; sister-in-law: Virginia and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; grandson: Justin Roe; great grandsons: Jacob Michuda and Mason Shank; sister: Beatrice; brothers: Ted, Joe, Dan and Harold and brothers-in-law: Paul, Dick and Stan.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday and 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Marjorie R. Shank will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral Home. Pastor Ben Currier will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
