If you are a pet owner, the chances are you have at least ten or twelve pictures of that non-human member of your family. Here is your chance to share that picture with the rest of the world. The St. Joseph County Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) is bringing back its “Cutest Pet Picture Contest”. This contest will be held at the St. Joe County Grange Fair in September.
Here’s how the contest works. Your pet’s picture will be displayed next to a jar. As people look and judge the picture, they will deposit money in the jar. The jar with the most money wins the contest.
Here are a few simple rules to follow:
Only one pet per picture.
The picture cannot be larger than 4×6. The 4×6 picture is preferred.
No humans are allowed in the picture.
One picture per family.
At one time, you could send in the pictures electronically, but this is not possible this year, so the pictures need to be sent in either by US Mail or they may be given to any ARF member. The address for mailing is Animal Rescue Fund, P.O. Box 593, Centreville, MI 49032. Be sure to include your name, the pet’s name, and your phone number, either on a separate sheet or on the back of the photo. There will be prizes for the top three winners. Again, winners are based on how much money is deposited in the pet’s jar. Deadline for receiving photos is September 13.
Slowly, but surely, the Riviera Theatre is getting back to a “New Normal”. The small patio in front of the Theatre Bar has been open for some time now, and they just recently reopened for indoor seating in the bar. The staff cordially invites you to stop in for a beverage of your choice and pizza.
The Riviera has also booked some concerts for the coming months, so stop by the box office and get tickets for the entire family. Here’s a sample of what’s coming up:
If you’re a fan of Tom Petty, The Insiders will perform a Tom Petty Tribute on Friday, August 27, at 7 PM. Advance tickets are $20/person, or you may purchase them the day of the show for $25/person. The box office is open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 until 9 PM. If you purchased tickets for the Insiders performance scheduled for March 27, 2020, your tickets will be honored for this performance.
Beatlemania returns to the Riviera Theatre Saturday, September 18, at 8 PM. “1964: The Tribute” focuses on the quintessential moment in history, when the Beatles actually played before a live audience. Advance tickets for The Tribute are only $40/person, or $45 the day of the show.
This is the season when most people do some real traveling. If you’ve ever been on an interstate highway, you may have wondered how these highways are numbered here in the good old USA. Here is that explanation you’ve been waiting for. All east-west interstate highways are even-numbered and increase from south to north. Thus, east-west Interstate 80 is north of I-70. North-south interstates are odd-numbered and increase from west to east. City bypasses and spurs have triple digits and are numbered odd or even depending on their directional orientation. You may want to use this bit of information the next time there is a lag in conversation on the way to Disney World.
