Peggy Louise Wagar, age 92, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday evening, July 4, 2021 at her home.
She was born December 24, 1928 in Burr Oak, daughter of the late Bert and Flossie (Krontz) Fager.
Peggy resided most of her life in Sturgis. On June 7, 1947 she married Maurice Elwyn “Pee Wee” Wagar in Sturgis. He preceded her in death April 28, 2000.
Peggy retired in 1988 from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 40 years of dedicated employment in the office.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis, the Sturgis Hospital Guild and the Red Hat Society. She was a gifted artist painting many portraits and landscapes. She enjoyed sewing and needlework.
Peggy is survived by one daughter: Jayne (Tom) Arver of Sturgis; one son: John (Penny) Wagar of Sturgis; four grandchildren: Nathan (Melissa) Wagar of Sturgis, Melissa (Kevin) Ebersole of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Jilayne (her fiancée: Jeff Sutton) Arver of Sturgis and Kevin (Jesse) Arver of Sturgis; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers: Jesse, Orval and Hurley Fager.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Private graveside services and burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date. Pastor Ryan Bibb of the Radiant Life Church will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mrs. Wagar’s memory be directed to the Sturgis Community Pool c/o: The Sturgis Foundation, 310 N. Franks Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091.
