Carol Pierce, 79

Carol May Pierce, age 79, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, August 13, 2021 at her home.
She was born January 10, 1942 in Easton, Pennsylvania daughter of the late Grover C. and Bernice (Bowman) Young.
Carol resided most of her life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1959.
On April 24, 1959 she married George E. Pierce at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis by the Rev. Richard Dunkleburger.
Carol was employed as the first female sales person at Royton Chevrolet in Sturgis and had also worked at G.M. Litho, Ayres Insurance Agency, and the Sturgis Child Care Center, all in Sturgis and she was a dedicated homemaker.
Carol was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. Some of her many involvements included serving as a Deacon and Elder, Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher, director of Christian Education, Parish Life Committee, Michigan Pilgrimage and Presbyterian Women serving at all levels of the organization. She was also a member of the Sturgis Hospital Auxiliary, Klinger Lake Country Club, Lady Elk life member and several book clubs. She enjoyed playing cards especially Bridge and was a member of many Bridge clubs. She loved time spent with her family and could always be counted on in being in attendance at all of her children’s and grandson’s many sporting events and activities.
She is survived by two daughters: Cheryl (Alan) Neiser and Cathy (Jeff) Lindsley both of Sturgis; one son: Craig (Kendra) Pierce of Sturgis; three grandsons: Joshua (Sabrina) Lindsley of Sturgis, Erik Neiser of East Lansing and Matthew Pierce of Sturgis; three great grandchildren who she was affectionately known by as their Yoyo: Jace, Jamie and Jenna; one sister: Anna Holtz of Burr Oak; one brother: Grover (Camilla) Young of Sarasota, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother-in-law: Stanley Holtz.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis where a memorial service celebrating the life of Carol May Pierce will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday. The Rev. Dr. David Weber will officiate. Private placement of the ashes in the church Columbarium will follow the service.
