Construction work continues at Centreville schools

Centreville Public Schools Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer provided an update on the district’s summer-long construction projects.

During Monday’s board of education meeting, Lemmer said the roof over the high school gymnasium is currently being replaced. In addition, new scoreboards for the football field and gymnasium were to be delivered and installed this week.

The district on Monday was issued its occupancy permit for the elementary school and a temporary permit granted for the junior/senior high building. Lemmer said construction crews this week will be working on drywalling, drywall finishing and carpeting in junior high classrooms. Electrical, she said, is completed, and the only outstanding matter in the junior high by the time school starts is windows.

The affected classrooms and administrative office in that area will remain in temporary locations throughout the building.

Lemmer added that outdoor emergency lighting is on order and will be installed as soon as it is delivered.

Meanwhile, she said the new bus garage and maintenance building is finished, aside from new doors, which are on backorder.
