Sue Stanton, 63

Sue Lynn Stanton, age 63, of Sturgis, was called home to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ late Thursday evening, August 26, 2021 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born July 13, 1958 in Indianapolis, daughter of the late Francis Palmer and Mary (Kluck) Barnell.
Sue resided most of her life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1976. She played clarinet and bassoon.
On October 13, 1979 she married David Allen Stanton at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene. They were married by the Rev. John Shoup (David’s Uncle).
Sue was employed by the Sturgis Christian Child Care Center for 28 years. While there she raised her family and furthered her education at Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville where she earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development (2003).
She also worked in the kitchen and snack bar of Indian Lake Nazarene Camp in Vicksburg for many years and at Sturgis Public Middle School. She was a faithful member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years. She taught Caravans, Sunday School, led Children’s Church, worked with the Bus Ministry, Daily Bread Ministry, teens on Wednesday nights, Ladies Lift Ministry, and sang in the choir. She also volunteered at food packing for the NiCE Foundation and Feed My Starving Children.
She enjoyed horseback riding and had a true appreciation for animals of all kinds. Sue’s greatest joys in life were her family, especially her grandchildren and her love for her Savior Jesus Christ.
Sue is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 41 years: David; two daughters: Elizabeth (Jesse) Sibert and Jennifer Stanton, both of Sturgis; one son Duane (Natalie) Stanton of Sturgis; her six beloved grandchildren: Mary, Robert, Kathryn, Adalynn, Olivia and Emberlee; one brother: Dan (Jean) Barnell of Sturgis; one honorary sister and best friend: Vicki (Jacob) Jaramillo of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister: Linda Lou Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 1st at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, 70031 S. Lakeview St. in Sturgis. An outdoor Christian celebration honoring the life of Sue Lynn Stanton will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 2nd at the Church. Rev. Duane Rensberry and Dr. Gary Bond will officiate. In accordance with Sue’s wishes cremation will follow the service.
The family requests that all guests wear a mask at the visitation for the safety of all those attending.
