Ted Rickett, 86

Theodore F. “Ted” Rickett, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away Friday evening, August 20, 2021 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born October 20, 1934 in Sturgis, son of the late Grover and Norma (Bailey) Rickett.
Ted was a lifelong Sturgis resident.
On December 19, 1953 he married Donna Deal in Sturgis.
Ted retired October 1, 1992 from the United States Postal Service following 28 years of dedicated service. Prior to joining the Postal Service he worked for 15 years at Sturgis Newport Business Forms.
Ted enjoyed hunting was an avid golfer and loved fishing, especially the annual Canadian fishing trips.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 67 years: Donna; one son: Roger Rickett of Blaine, Washington; son-in-law: Kenneth Jennings of Sturgis; four grandchildren: Travis (Candice) Jennings of Lake Elsinore, California, Ryan (his fiancée Jacqueline Spearman) Jennings of Columbus, Ohio, Joshua Rickett of Washington and Kendra (Craig) Pierce of Sturgis and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Connie Sue Jennings; two brothers: Robert Rickett and Richard Rickett and six sisters: Donna Miller, Phyllis Helmer, Burnus Winkleblack, Dorothy Boggs, Joyce Miller and Effie Woods.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
