Basil Ash, age 85, of Leesburg, Fla., passed away on July 25, 2021. Basil was born on February 18, 1936 in Otsego to Harvey and Pauline (Cobalt) Ash.
Basil retired from Michigan Gas company, and he served in the foreign wars in the Army, based in Anchorage, Alaska in the Intelligence division.
Basil is survived by wife Phyllis Ganger Ash; brother Luther (Nancy) Ash; sister Betty (Durwood) Bertch; sons, Tim (Beth) Ash, Joseph (Amy) Ash, and Tom Ash; one daughter, Jennifer (John) Dudd; grandchildren, Nichole (Jonathan) Moore, Jack Gieber II, Kristin (Felipe) Ortega, Margaret Ash, Andrea (Todd) Lipscomb, Rachael (Luke) Nofsinger, Josh (Michelle) Andrew, Samantha and Eddie Ash, Jared, Zack (Lisa) McClain; Jolise (Brandon) Kent, Grayson (Hannah) Dudd, Allison, Nick, Shawn, and Lauren Ganger, many nieces and nephews, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Basil was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Norita Tessin Ash, brother Lester Ash; and sisters Barbara Horn and Leora Delong.
Cremation has taken place. An informal celebration of life for Basil will be held Sept. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bethany Chapel, 15130 Millard Rd. in Three Rivers, with Luther Ash officiating. Monarch Cremator/Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home are in charge of services. Memorials can be made to Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Fla.
