Brad Pierucki, 67

Bradley James Pierucki, age 67, of Reed City, Michigan and former resident of Sturgis, wrote his final chapter on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He wanted to let you all know that he loves you and has no regrets.
Bradley James Pierucki was born on April 8th, 1954 in Sturgis to Carl and Ella (Stage) Pierucki.
As a lad he helped run the family’s Popcorn Stand in downtown Sturgis. He loved being a member of the Sturgis High School Marching Band and was a part of the talented group that won the 1971 National Title in Virginia Beach. He graduated in 1972.
Brad forged his own path in life and eventually found his way to Detroit where he spent most of his adulthood. He worked his way through the ranks to eventually lead the Credit Card Division at NBD bank. It was during that time in his life that he met who would eventually become his life partner and doting husband Darrell Louks. After 24 years together they wed on July 7, 2019. The two of them traveled frequently and retired to the peace and solace of their home in Reed City. There they had many visitors including family, friends, and the various wildlife that would visit their back patio bordering the forest. Brad could always be counted on to ensure every family gathering went off without a hitch and made everyone feel welcome. Brad was also there for anybody who needed him, especially his family. He had a special gift to hold everyone together during a crisis and keep the ship afloat. Brad’s humor would always shine through, even at the end, he had a quick wit and a sharp mind. In fact he often would be reading several books at a time and was a constant student of the world, soaking up as much knowledge as possible. In addition to being a kind soul, he was also an avid gardener, bowler, cook, and a shoulder to lean on. Brad lived a life full of laughter, frivolity, generousness, and did so with a hint of sarcasm.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl Pierucki in 2006, and his brother Brian Pierucki in 2020.
He is survived by his husband: Darrell Louks; loving mother Ella (Stage) Pierucki, his sister Jane (Rodney) Stahl, his brother Bob (Dawn) Piercucki, Jane and Rod’s boys who he thought of as his own children: Travis, Tyler, Taylor, Terry, and Tory, nephew Raymond Pierucki, and nieces Haley Palmer and Holly Fittro. He is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 18 at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where the memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Father Richard Altine will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. There will be a luncheon at Rod & Jane’s celebrating Brad’s life after the interment at 25928 N. White Tail Rd.  In lieu of donations Brad would suggest that you get yourself a good book and be kind to those you meet.
The obituary is also at www.hackmanfamilyfuneralhomes.com where we encourage relatives and friends to share memories and leave condolences for the family.
