Branch and brush drop-off available in Nottawa

St. Joseph County residents looking for a place to discard tree branches and brush will have an opportunity Friday.

The county has partnered with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Parks and Recreation, and Michigan Department of Natural Resources to establish a location to get rid of branches and brush created as a result of heavy storms over the past month.

The collection will be set up 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Sand Lake County Park in Nottawa.

Event organizers said the collection is for branches and brush only. Trees or branches up to 16 inches in diameter will be accepted. Household waste, and yard waste such as leaves and grass clippings, will not be accepted.

Wood chips are available on-site at no charge.

Additional drop-off events of this nature will be offered in coming weeks. More details will be provided when times and locations are finalized.
