Colon school bus evacuated due to bomb threat

A Colon Community Schools bus was evacuated Tuesday after the district was notified a bomb was on board a bus making its after-school run.

According to a letter released to parents, two students notified the district at 3:17 p.m. that there was an explosive device on bus No. 7410.

The bus was immediately evacuated and its passengers were dropped off at the elementary school gymnasium.

Law enforcement arrived and searched the bus but no explosives were found.

Students were brought back aboard the bus and dropped off at their usual locations. District officials said an alert system was used to notify parents of the later-than-usual arrival home.
