Deb Wells, 88

Debra Ellen Wells, age 88, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Three Rivers Health.
She was born on January 30, 1933, the daughter of Marie Hagelgans.
At the age of 16, Deb married the love of her life, Raymond Wells on October 15, 1949. The two spent 62 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. Deb worked many years for Vic and Mary Boyer.
Deb is survived by her Son, Michael (Marian) Wells of Colon; Daughter, Patricia (Wayne) Whitsel of Sturgis; Honorary Son, Gary (Dot) Bowersox of Sturgis; Grandchildren, Brad (Cindy) Wells, Becky (Kerry) McCann, Kelly (Matt) Kulpinski, Ray (Nicole) Whitsel, Julie (Dan) Webster; 14 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Marie Hagelgans, Husband, Raymond “Bud” Wells, Sister, Mary Miller and Brothers, Robert and Wayne Hagelgans.
Deb enjoyed reading, collecting hummingbirds and snowmen and camping Up North in her family cabin. She truly was the matriarch of her family and loved when they all could spend time together, especially during the holidays that were always celebrated in her home. Deb’s smile and calm demeanor will be deeply missed by her family and all others who knew and loved her.
To honor her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 2nd at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak. Deb’s grandson, Brad Wells, will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Wells’ memory consider the charity of one’s choice.
