Richard K. “Dick” Bechtloff, age 83, of Colon, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He was born October 3, 1937 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania only child of John and Evelyn Bechtloff.
Dick resided in Colon for the past 32 years coming from Omaha, Nebraska. On October 29, 2010 he married Jacqueline “Jackie” (Blake) Miller at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
Dick retired from the Honeywell Company following several years of dedicated employment. He owned and operated Memory Lane Antiques and Dime Store Days both in Colon.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis and Michigan Pilgrimage.
Dick was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Dick enjoyed helping others and volunteered his time with the St. Joseph County Victim Unit and Three Rivers Hospice Grief Support and he loved traveling and being together with Jackie.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife: Jackie; two sons: Kevin Bechtloff of Louisville, Kentucky and Mark (Renee) Bechtloff of Portsmouth, Virginia; one daughter: Tracy (Dave) Lovell of Melfa, Virginia and five grandchildren.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 11th at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis where a memorial service celebrating the life of Dick Bechtloff will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Dr. David Weber will officiate. Private placement of the ashes in the church Columbarium will follow the service.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
