Marelee Ann Hawver, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation, Three Rivers. Marelee was born in Sturgis on January 12, 1948, a daughter of Clarence and Inez Pauline (Maxwell) Maystead. She attended Burr Oak and Sturgis Schools, graduating in 1966. On June 10th, 1967, she married Donald Hawver; they were later divorced. Marelee later received her CETA certificate from Glen Oaks Community College. She worked as a faculty secretary at Glen Oaks for 32 years before retiring in 2010. She took great pride in supporting 140 full and part time faculty every year. She made so many friends over the years. Her faculty loved her and took good care of her in return. Marelee enjoyed reading, basket weaving and loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially watching all of their sporting events. Marelee’s grandchildren remember her constant support, multiple hotel retreats and Nana-clause’s attendance at Christmas with way too many gifts. She always put her children and then her grandchildren first with a fierce love. She loved to laugh and was close to her nieces, nephews and brothers/sisters in-law, especially Sally (who survives) . They shared a lot of laughs and years of being “sisters”.
Surviving are her son David (Tammy) Hawver of Centreville, daughter Heather (John) Teadt of Constantine, grandchildren Debbie Martin, Caleb White, Tyler Teadt, Zachary Teadt, and Dylan Teadt, great granddaughter Isabella Marie, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several nieces and nephews, along with siblings Allen Maystead, Thelma Fiebelkorn, and Alice Ankey Verspelt
