Ruth Ellen Herman, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born Dec. 29, 1934 in Columbia City, IN a daughter of the late Lawrence Adam and Mary Jane (Mohn) Friend.
Ruth has been a resident of Sturgis since 1980, previously living in the Middlebury, Shipshewana, Stone Lake area.
She had been employed by Coachman Industries for several years and had also worked as a got cook for Golden Corral in Sturgis.
She enjoyed reading watching T.V., especially Law and Order, and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Surviving are one daughter: Kimberly Blanchard and Scott Martin of Three Rivers; 1 son: Robert A. Herman of Sturgis; 5 grandchildren: Misty Caldwell and John Grunert of Sturgis, Mary Elizabeth Caldwell and Richard Breden Jr. of Niles, Dustin Caldwell and Lona Latoski of Sturgis, Dana Dunkel and Adam Dunkel both of Sturgis; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson: Cameron Scott Herman, and 2 sisters: Dorothy Rommel and Alice Roberson.
According to her wishes, there will be no visitation or services at this time as cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be directed to the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis to help with expenses.
