Work continues at hydroelectric plant

Indiana Michigan Power said work is continuing on routine maintenance at the Constantine Hydroelectric Plant.

The company two weeks ago lowered the level of the St. Joseph River in advance of the task.

The level will remain at the lower level until early October, if weather conditions permit. The water level upstream of the facility was to be lowered by a full foot.

Maintenance work is expected to finish the week of Oct. 11, weather permitting. The water level will be returned to its normal state once the work has been completed.

The Constantine Hydroelectric facility is one of six run-of-river hydroelectric plants on the St. Joseph River I&M owns and operates.
