Robert Skelton, age 84, Constantine, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in Kalamazoo. He was the youngest child, born on August 20, 1937 in Constantine, to Herman and Sadie (Thorn) Skelton.
Bob attended Constantine Schools and went on to work at Good Manufacturing in Constantine, Wheel Camper in Centreville, and Coachmen-Forest River in Centreville. He retired From Coachmen (Forest River) in 2011.
Bob also served as a member of the Michigan National Guard during the 1960s. During this time, his unit was dispatched to Branch County to provide aid following the April 11, 1965 Palm Sunday tornadoes that ripped through the Coldwater Lake area.
Bob enjoyed duck hunting, deer hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting, as well as spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Pashby of Constantine and Elizabeth Rentfrow of White Pigeon, as well as his loving companion of 34 years Abbie Potee of Constantine, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Herman and Sadie Skelton, sisters Frances Hoopingarner and Lillian Holderman, brothers Thomas, William, and Herman Jr. Skelton, and half-brothers Russell, Elwood, and Joseph Skelton.
Relatives and friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 7 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. A religious service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Bud Granger, Moorepark Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Constantine Cemetery.
