Helen Jenny Holtz, age 92, of Sturgis, passed away early Friday morning, October 8, 2021 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born March 20, 1929 in Chicago, daughter of the late Stanley and Bernice (Dykavitz) Markus.
Mrs. Holtz resided in Sturgis since the age of 18 coming from Colon where she was a graduate of Colon High School.
On June 19, 1948 she married Albert “AJ” Holtz in Sturgis. He preceded her in death July 1, 2008.
Mrs. Holtz retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 50 years of dedicated employment.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She is survived by two daughters: Brenda (George Derbalian) Edmonds of Manistee and Ellen (John) Schull of Sturgis; three granddaughters: Carissa (Peter) Newman of Battle Creek, Amber (Mike) Martin of Kalamazoo and Kileigh (Sean) Lacey of Middlebury, Indiana; one grandson: John (Chasity) Gouker of Irons; seven great grandchildren: Ajae Gouker, Parker Newman, Paxten Newman, Jack Martin, Cleo Martin, Finleigh Lacey and Hutch Lacey and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one daughter: Kim Holtz; three brothers: Stanley Markus, Walter Markus and Edward Markus; one sister: Bernice Markus Barry.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Helen J. Holtz will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 14th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
