A Georgia man was arrested after the victim of a motor vehicle theft followed the suspect and reported the incident to authorities.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies were notified around 1 a.m. Thursday about a motor vehicle theft in progress. The suspect was in the process of stealing a car from a residence in the 61000 block of Klinger Lake Road.
The victim followed the suspect and relayed to authorities their location as they were traveling. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested and authorities subsequently learned he had stolen a car from Centreville earlier and crashed it, also in the 61000 block of Klinger Lake Road.
The suspect was charged with two counts of unauthorized driving away of an automobile, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, operating under the influence of drugs, driving with no license and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, authorities said.
