Colon to play for state title

One local high school football team remains in the quest for a state title.

Colon High School will attempt to win its second 8-man title in three years this Saturday, when it travels to Marquette for the Division 2 championship game against Powers North Central High School of Menominee County.

The Magi punched their ticket over the weekend, defeating Au Gres-Sims, 42-6. Powers North Central, meanwhile, defeated Marion, 73-8.

Also over the weekend, White Pigeon was on the short end of an 8-0 contest against Hudson in Division 8, 11-man play. The quarter-final matchup was played Friday night in Hudson.

The Chiefs finish the season with a 10-2 record, making their deepest playoff run since 1990.
