County commission to consider road commission board appointment

Nearly three years after making a noteworthy decision, St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners is poised to once again fill an appointment to the county’s road commission board.

During their executive committee meeting Wednesday, commissioners discussed the impending expiration of the road commission board seat currently held by Dave Allen.

In January 2019, commissioners ignored the recommendation of the road commission board and appointed Vince Mifsud. Their other option was to re-appoint 12-year member Rick Anderson, who had the support of the five-member road commission board and then-county commissioner Allen Balog.

Commissioners recommended an interview committee be comprised of commissioners Dennis Allen and Dan Czajkowski, and a member of the road commission board.

The position is for a six-year term.
