Doris Erlene Hassenger, age 65, of Colon, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
Doris was born on September 11, 1956 in Sturgis, a daughter to the late David and Ruth (Hartwig) Trine.
Doris graduated from Colon High School with the class of 1974. She then attended Kellogg Community College and received her associates degree. Following Kellogg Doris earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design from Western Michigan University.
On June 19, 1976 Doris married Steven Hassenger at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Three Rivers.
Doris spent 23 years living in Georgia and the rest was spent living in the Bronson, Constantine, and Colon areas.
Doris is survived by her husband Steven Hassenger of Colon, two children: Karin Hassenger of Colon and Kurt (Amber) Hassenger of Atlanta, Georgia, 8 siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother, David Trine.
The Hassenger family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 PM at the Schipper Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating the life of Doris will take place at 11 AM Friday, December 3, 2021 also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Colon Elementary School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
