A suspect was arrested following two armed robberies in the village of Marcellus Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly before 6 p.m. to the Shell Gas Station. While information was being taken, a second armed robbery call came in from nearby Mega Liquor.
Authorities said information taken at the time gave a basic description of the suspect being the same in both incidents. Investigators said in both cases the suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
Sheriff’s officials and assisting agencies set up a perimeter for the K9 unit called in to attempt to locate the suspect who left on foot. It was later determined, however, that the suspect was likely to have fled from a vehicle.
Behnke said his office has identified and taken into custody a suspect, who is being held until arraignment and court proceedings.
