Mario Orlando Vela, age 42, of Centreville, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born December 28, 1978, a son of Mario and Rachel (Torres) Vela in Weslaco, TX. Mario graduated from Progreso High School in Progreso, TX. On June 9, 2009, following an 8 year courtship, he married Jesusa Cruz Trevino in Paw Paw. Mario loved his job as a painter for Morgan Olsen in Sturgis, and for Utilimaster in Bristol, IN.
Mario loved music and playing the guitar, art and drawing. He was a member of Faith Finders Church in Constantine where he was a men’s group leader. Mario enjoyed fishing, traveling, and photography. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with, teaching and mentoring them.
Surviving Mario are his mother Rachel Torres, Hereford, TX; wife Jesusa Vela, Centreville; daughters Ninfa Margita Vela, Weslaco, Tx, Sonya Elena (Joshua) Puorro, Centreville; sisters Gloria Ann (Juan) Mireles, Imelda (Joshua Salas) Vela, Rachel Christine (Craig) Johnson; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; grandmother Ninfa Vela, Progreso, TX and also his great grand dogs, kitty and chicken Drizella.
He was preceded in death by his father, sons Angel Vela, Orlando Jesus Vela, grandfathers Crisoforo Vela, Simon Torres; and grandmother Rafaela Torres.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 6 PM at Faith Finders Church, 229 W. 2nd St, Constantine. Religious services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastors John & Rita Austin officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.
