Mark Chapman, 63

Mark Edward Chapman, age 63, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 in the care and comfort of his home. Mark was born on February 8, 1958 in Sturgis to Gary D. and Betty (Horkey) Chapman. He is survived by his loving companion of 24 years Linda Peffley, son Mark A. Chapman; two grandsons, Caiden and Kristopher Chapman; mother Betty Lou Williams, two brothers, Duane and Brian Chapman; two sisters Cynthia Vieta, Linda (Rock) Alexander; also 3 stepbrothers and 3 stepsisters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Gary D. Chapman, step-father Arthur Williams, grandparents, his Uncle Keith Chapman; also his fur babies, Emily and Gracie.

He attended Holy Angels Catholic School in Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis High School with the Class of 1976. He was an avid tennis player which he played in high school.

Mark worked as a machinist for 20 years at Tube Form Solutions in Elkhart, and formerly at Sutton Tool Co. in Sturgis. He was a huge fan of any Michigan team especially U of M and all Detroit sports teams; Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings. He enjoyed playing pool, darts, bowling and was an avid fisherman. He loved playing golf and was a member of Bent Oak Golf club in Elkhart.

A memorial mass will be celebrated for Mark at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol, IN on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior. Burial will be at a later date at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sturgis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Humane Society of Elkhart Co., or Shriners Hospitals.
