Thomas Hensell, 71

Thomas D. Hensell, age 71, of Bronson, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Select Medical Hospital in Battle Creek. Thomas was born in Three Rivers on August 18, 1950, a son of Harold and Pollyanna (Hooten) Hensell. He graduated from Centreville High School in 1968 and then from Glen Oaks Community College in 1970 with an Associate’s degree in Technology. Thomas married Margie Suhonen in Berlin, Germany while in the service. They returned to the US and settled to a farm in Bronson, where they raised their 4 children. They were married for 20 years, and later divorced.

For many years, he worked as a delivery man and mechanic at Central Fuel Service of Centreville, and later for Precision Speed Equipment of Sturgis. He was a member of the Sturgis VFW where he served as a trustee. Thomas enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, robotics, and old cars.

Surviving are his son Joseph (Jackie) Hensell of Battle Creek; daughter Jennifer (Jim) Disney of Clinton Twp.; son Dan (Jessaray) Hensell of Union City, daughter Dawn (Dave) Johannes of Colon; grandchildren Kyle, Collin, Kody, Klayton, Lukas, Olivia, Lillian, and Amelia; brother Jack (Susie) Hensell of Constantine; brother William (Jeannie) Hensell of Centreville; sister-in-law Christine (John) Friedel of Mendon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gene Hensell.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville from 12 to 2 PM. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM with Christine Friedel officiating. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date in Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville.
