Jean Kenneth Baldwin, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 9, 2021 at his home.
He was born June 7, 1935 in Sturgis, son of the late Charles and Fannie Irene (Hudson) Baldwin.
Jean was a lifelong Sturgis resident. On June 29, 1958 he married Violet Nichols in Sturgis.
Most of Jean’s working life was involved in factory work and was employed by the Harter Corporation in Sturgis for many years.
He was proud to have served his country in the National Guard and the U.S. Army earning the rank of Private First Class. While serving in the Army, he was stationed in Germany.
Jean enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles, especially with his brothers and uncle.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 63 years: Violet; one son: Kenneth Baldwin of Sturgis; one daughter: Kathy (James) Andrews of Burr Oak; two grandchildren: Cody Andrews and Ashley Andrews both of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Bessie Baird; four brothers: William, Richard, John and twin brother: Jack Baldwin.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Private burial of the ashes and full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard at a later date at Sturgis Memorial Garden in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
