Lydia Troyer, 86

Lydia Mae Troyer, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away Friday afternoon, December 10, 2021 at Dear Country Adult Foster Care in Burr Oak.
She was born March 23, 1935 in LaGrange, Indiana daughter of the late John and Fannie (Weaver) Mast.
Lydia resided in Sturgis since 1960 coming from LaGrange.
On July 30, 1960 she married Alvin Troyer in St. Joseph County, Michigan. He preceded her in death November 1, 2015.
When her children were young she was a school bus driver for the Sturgis Public Schools. Lydia had been a Shaklee representative for over 30 years until her health caused her to be unable to continue at which time her daughter took over the business. She also enjoyed working many years in retail at Wilson’s Shoe Store, Willer’s Shoe Store, and Elaine’s all in downtown Sturgis.
She was a member of the Sturgis Evangelical Church and enjoyed flower gardening. She was known for her cooking skills and many will miss her incredible meals. Lydia loved visiting with family and friends especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lydia is survived by her daughter: Joyce (Steve) Barnell of Sturgis; grandsons: Derek (Alison) Barnell of Hartsville, Tennessee and Matthew (Bailey) Barnell of Sturgis; great granddaughters: Adisyn, Raegan, Hailee and Bailee Barnell; sisters: Katie (Chris) Fry of Pennsylvania, Edna (Ernie) Yoder of Shipshewana; brothers: David (Lucy) Mast of Sarasota, Florida, Ervin (Rose) Mast of LaGrange, Levi Mast of Colorado, Jonas (Rosie) Mast of South Carolina and Delbert Mast of LaGrange; brother-in-law: Johnnie Troyer, LaGrange, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Steven Troyer; sister: Mary Troyer and sister-in-law: Anna Marie Mast.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Sturgis Evangelical Church, 28201 E. Fawn River Rd. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Lydia Mae Troyer will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. The Rev. Rodger Moyer will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
