Nancy Lee Berg, age 81, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange.
She was born July 2, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio daughter of the late Claude and Lillian (Beam) House.
Nancy resided in Sturgis since 1974 coming from Colorado. Her early life was lived in the Detroit area and she was a graduate of Grosse Point High School. She furthered her education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Education.
On June 13, 1964 she married Herman Berg at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Nancy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and had a special place in her heart for cats and loved time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Jon (Tilynna) Berg of Goshen, and Eric Berg of Sturgis; seven grandchildren: Kirsten Berg, Kaitlynne Berg, Matthew Berg, Tara (Raja) Hickmanstamos, Micah (Lindsay) Stinnett, Izabella Berg and Ezra Berg and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Chris Berg and brother: James House.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Nancy L. Berg will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
