Organization aids Proxmire family

A New York-based organization recently aided the family of Three Rivers native Ryan Proxmire, who was killed in the line of duty back in August.

Tunnel to Towers Foundation, based on Staten Island, has paid off the home mortgage for Proxmire’s wife and four children.

Proxmire, 39, was a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputy who was shot and died after his patrol car left the road and struck a tree in eastern Kalamazoo County.

Tunnel to Towers in 2016 assisted a Detroit Police officer who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist. The officer was assisting at the scene of a traffic stop when the incident occurred.
