Out and About – Week of December 6th

Just in time for Christmas, the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170 will host a Christmas Bazaar at the Legion, 59990 South Main Street in Three Rivers, this Saturday, December 11, from 9AM until 3PM. There will be plenty of tables filled with great gift ideas. Everyone is invited to come out and get your Christmas shopping done with one stop.

The Stone Cottage Free Store, located at the corner of Bennett and West Streets in Three Rivers, is in need of men’s clothing and winter coats for men, women and children. If you have any of these items to donate, please call the Free Store at (269)535-2786 prior to making a delivery. The Free Store is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9AM until noon. There are way too many families out there in need of clothing and household goods. Your donations will help them to have a much-needed Merry Christmas.

While on the subject of donations, the Three Rivers Food Site, located on Railroad Drive, just below Lowry’s Books and More, also has needs. They can really use donations of toilet paper, soap and detergent and feminine hygiene products.

With Christmas just weeks away, the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/Centreville would like to invite everyone to come and get into the Christmas spirit. The church’s Chancel Choir and Campanile Bells will lead everyone in celebration of the Christmas season this coming Sunday, December 12 at 4PM. The church is located at 320 North Main Street in Three Rivers.

The wonderful thing about the month of December is that there’s always something to do to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. I’ve mentioned a couple of things, but here are a few more to choose from:

December 11: Everyone is invited to stop by the Three Rivers Wal*Mart and help “Stuff a Blue Goose”. From 10AM until 6PM, Michigan State Police troopers will collect toys and non-perishable food items for families in St. Joseph County.
December 11: You won’t want to miss Christmas festivities in Centreville. From Noon to 4PM, there will be plenty of craft vendors and games. Around 5PM you won’t want to miss the light parade followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree and, of course, cookies with Santa.
Open through December 18: Corey Lake Orchard’s “Tis the Season Holiday Market” is open Saturdays from 9AM until 3PM. Located at 12147 Corey Lake Road, you’re invited to help yourself to hot cocoa, mulled hot cider, sweet treats, plus enjoy a visit with Santa.
Open through Christmas Eve: Holiday Art Gallery, 28 North Main Street in Three Rivers, is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 8PM and Saturdays from 10AM until 6PM. The gallery features works by members of the Three Rivers Artists Guild.
There is so much to do here in St. Joseph County. Gather the family and get Out and About.
