Riders take advantage of free ride home

St. Joseph County Transportation Authority Director Allen Balog said nearly two dozen people took advantage of the agency’s “Free Ride Home” program a few weeks ago.

The service, provided over a six-hour period the night of Nov. 24, drew 19 riders, Balog said.

He noted the free service was available to people coming from locations and going to locations in St. Joseph County. Two buses were put into service; one was positioned to serve the Three Rivers area, while the other was designated for the Sturgis area.

More riders appeared to take the Sturgis-based bus, as Balog noted a number of passengers got on at Buffalo Wild Wings and Hillcrest Lounge.

Balog said the service was also requested from guests at Curley’s restaurant in Colon.
